    What happened

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) successfully conducted the first ground test of the solid motor for the Sub-Orbital Launch Vehicle for Experiments (SOLVE). SOLVE is a new test platform developed to validate key systems, especially the parachute-based recovery system of India's human spaceflight mission, Gaganyaan.

Where and When did it happen

The ground test was conducted by ISRO and officially announced on 4 July 2026.

    Why this is important

SOLVE will carry the Gaganyaan Crew Module to an altitude of 10–17 km during future test flights to validate its deceleration and parachute deployment system before splashdown. The successful ground test is an important step toward ensuring astronaut safety in India's first human spaceflight mission.
