India's cheetah population has grown to 57 after new cub births at Kuno National Park.

An Indian-born female cheetah named KGP-2, daughter of South African cheetah Gamini, gave birth to four cubs on April 11, 2026. This is the first recorded wild birth by a second-generation cheetah in India. Kuno now has 54 cheetahs, with three more at Gandhi Sagar Sanctuary.

The mother and cubs are healthy. This boosts Project Cheetah, started in 2022 after cheetahs went extinct in India decades ago.
