Two new gecko species were recently found in Northeast India. Researchers discovered Cyrtodactylus raimonaensis near Raimona National Park, Assam, and Cyrtodactylus jayadityai in North Tripura's lowland forests.

The finds raise Northeast India's Cyrtodactylus count to 31, reinforcing the region's status as part of the Indo-Burma biodiversity hotspot. Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma called it "a proud moment".
