The Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has constituted the National Dental Commission (NDC), replacing the Dental Council of India (DCI) from 19 March 2026. The NDC is now the new apex regulator for dental education and profession in India, framed under a modern law that repeals the old Dentists Act, 1948.
It will set standards, rate dental colleges, promote research, regulate fees in private colleges, and strengthen ethics and registration, aiming for better quality and transparency in dental care.
কেন্দ্রীয় স্বাস্থ্য ও পরিবার কল্যাণ মন্ত্রক ১৯ মার্চ ২০২৬ থেকে ‘ডেন্টাল কাউন্সিল অফ ইন্ডিয়া’ (DCI)-এর পরিবর্তে ‘ন্যাশনাল ডেন্টাল কমিশন’ (NDC) গঠন করেছে। NDC এখন ভারতে দন্তচিকিৎসা শিক্ষা ও পেশার সর্বোচ্চ নিয়ন্ত্রক সংস্থা হিসেবে কাজ করবে; এটি এমন একটি আধুনিক আইনের অধীনে গঠিত হয়েছে, যা ১৯৪৮ সালের পুরনো ‘ডেন্টিস্টস অ্যাক্ট’-কে বাতিল করেছে।
দন্তচিকিৎসা সেবায় উন্নত গুণমান ও স্বচ্ছতা নিশ্চিত করার লক্ষ্যে এই কমিশন বিভিন্ন মানদণ্ড নির্ধারণ করবে, দন্তচিকিৎসা মহাবিদ্যালয়গুলোর মূল্যায়ন করবে, গবেষণাকে উৎসাহিত করবে, বেসরকারি কলেজগুলোর ফি নিয়ন্ত্রণ করবে এবং পেশাগত নৈতিকতা ও নিবন্ধীকরণ ব্যবস্থাকে শক্তিশালী করবে।
