Scientists from the Botanical Survey of India have discovered a new wild kiwi species, Actinidia indica, in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Subansiri district near Ziro Valley at about 1,725 metres altitude.
The plant is a climbing shrub with hairy stems, large leaves, creamy flowers and small olive‑green fruits showing a net‑like lenticel pattern. Limited to a narrow zone between temperate and subtropical forests, it is presently classed as “Data Deficient” owing to very restricted known range and lack of population data.

উদ্ভিদটি একটি আরোহী গুল্ম, যার কাণ্ড লোমশ, পাতা বড়, ফুল ক্রিম রঙের এবং ছোট জলপাই-সবুজ ফলগুলিতে জালের মতো লেন্টিসেল নকশা দেখা যায়। নাতিশীতোষ্ণ এবং উপক্রান্তীয় বনের মধ্যবর্তী একটি সংকীর্ণ অঞ্চলে সীমাবদ্ধ হওয়ায়, এর অত্যন্ত সীমিত পরিচিত পরিসর এবং জনসংখ্যার তথ্যের অভাবে এটিকে বর্তমানে “তথ্য ঘাটতি” (Data Deficient) হিসাবে শ্রেণীবদ্ধ করা হয়েছে।
